About the book
In a matter of a few years, I have seen Sushant Kumar BK evolve from an ordinary literary enthusiast to a poet of international acclaim with amazing publication coverage. The expanse of his acclaim corresponds with growth in his artistic seriousness, thematic eclecticism and philosophical seriousness. As evidenced in is first anthology The Caste of Flowers, the most poignant of all is his voice for the rights of the Dalits – people deprived of even the minimum harvest of equality in the modern state. As a member of the same community, Sushant stands on lived and closely observed experiences, and holds the capacity to move his readers to an empathetic realization, anguish, empathy and action. Alongside, he deals with timeless themes like love, paradoxes of life, admiration for nature, local and international peace, administrative mess, and the general concern for changing human preferences, albeit with poetic originality and aphoristic treatment. Rich in translucent images, figurative expressions and literary allusions, his poems promise a rich artistic forage through a wide array of emotions that define us and our world.

This Anthology of Poems by Sushant Kumar B.K. is a searing and soulful collection that gives voice to the unheard, light to the overlooked, and dignity to the dispossessed. Through powerful, unflinching verse, Sushant weaves a poignant tapestry of poetry that confronts the painful realities of caste, gender, marginalization, love, and longing.
This anthology flows like a river of raw truth and poetic fire. From the haunting imagery of The Caste of Flowers to the fierce defiance of I Am a Modern Durga, and the quiet ache of The Abandoned Letters, each poem becomes a mirror, reflecting not only society’s fissures but also the fragile beauty of the human spirit.
Bold and unyielding, yet deeply lyrical, these poems transcend boundaries. They sing of resistance, pulse with resilience, and demand to be heard. This book is not only a tribute to the strength of the marginalized. It is a clarion call for empathy, justice, and a more compassionate world.

The Caste of Flowers, an anthology of the voice of the voiceless with a poetic aura which journeys through tradition, rebellion, and identity. Blending vivid imagery with poignant emotion, it unravels the silent hierarchies rooted in society and is equally evocative to creating brotherhood. Each flower as a poem, symbolizes a voice, some celebrated, some silenced to bring transformation. A powerful exploration of beauty, with untold stories blooming in the margins with poetic wisdom.
